About Me

Kelly Nicholas SEPiT, MSc, BSc

Sport and Exercise Psychologist

I am a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in training with the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES). I have a degree in Psychology from the University of Birmingham and a master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology from Brunel University London. I have also completed a certificate in Mental Health First Aid.

I have a background in horse riding and long-distance cycling. I have completed two cycle tours, including across the length of New Zealand and across South East Asia. This developed my understanding of some of the challenges faced by athletes and propelled me towards a career in Sports Psychology. I am also a keen skier with a love for the outdoors. I have experience working with athletes from a range of disciplines, including football, swimming, tennis, badminton, horse-riding, diving, sailing, hockey, basketball, bowls, Hyrox and golf, as well as clients undergoing cardiac exercise rehabilitation.

I have also worked with school students to manage exam preparations and anxieties with excellent results.

I recognise that high level performance requires considering and prioritising your mental wellbeing. Within my approach and training I use a range of techniques, however my focus is often in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT is one of the most effective and evidence-based type of psychological therapy. Using CBT, we will consider your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and how they interact with each other.

I work with athletes of any ability, whether you are wanting help with motivation to get fit and go the gym, starting a brand new sport, or are an elite professional. I also work with athletes of all ages, and have worked with clients as young as 13.

Reach your goals

My aim is to help others reach their goals, by recognising and working through any challenges that are limiting them from achieving their potential.

Code of Conduct

I work within the ethical guidelines of the BASES Code of Conduct and our work together will be kept confidential unless otherwise requested.
